Welcome! My name is Deanne Eisenman and I am the owner and designer for Snuggles Quilts. When I heard about the By Annie #SewPink Initiative I was excited to take part. I have two family members that are breast Cancer survivors so this is a cause close to my heart.
I decided to create this wall hanging called Courage as my contribution:

If you follow me on my blog, you know as a quilt pattern designer one of my passions is pieced patterns with applique, either in fabric or wool. This wall hanging represents that passion. It incorporates a pieced pink ribbon within a star, a block I call the Hope Star block, that is ringed with floral wool applique.
I chose the black-eyed susan flower and thyme flowers for the applique because of what they represent in “flower language”. Black-eyed susans represent “encouragement” and thyme flowers represent courage and strength. All things those who are battling breast cancer need and cherish from their family and friends.
Here’s some photos documenting the creation of the project, with a little help from my studio cat, Addie.

Because of my family history, I am vigilant myself when it comes to exams and tests for early detection. There have been great advancements over the years like 3D mammograms and MRI guided biopsies (both of which I have had). These advancements could not be made without funds raised from initiatives like this. I am grateful to all who work in this field of study to hopefully someday find a cure.
1 in 8 women in their lifetime will be diagnosed with breast cancer…. and you do not have to have a strong family history to be one of those women. That is why I urge you to do the self-exams and make that yearly mammogram visit at the minimum.
For this initiative, I will be offering my Courage pattern for 30% in my store through November 15, 2019 when you use the code: 30OFF at checkout. Then you can donate those extra funds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (see link below)! Be sure to use the code 30OFF at checkout until November 15th. This is a physical pattern. A PDF version will be available for purchase on October 30th.
Happy Quilting!
Deanne

Your quilt is visually beautiful and then all of the beautiful meanings. Just lovely! Best project of the month.
Thank you!
Thanks, I just ordered the pattern! As a breast cancer survivor I appreciate the thought you put into the pattern and beautiful messages you incorporated. This can be used for other cancers by changing the ribbon color.
